Hi all
I'm not after Advice. I'm posting here to help others.
If like me your Bongo sound system is dodgy then if you don't mind spending a few quid here's a possible answer..
Remove back panels yourself. You can change the standard supplied speakers (you'll find that they are only 20W 4ohm) with alternatives. I replaced my rear ones with Kenwood KFC-S689C. These cost £50. The mounting is identical with no messing. The front speakers are a bit smaller and are also £50. Now the good bit... So, you get in a new car these days and it has an all singing, all dancing LARGE radio face. This is twice the size if one of those £30 car radios from Halfords. Car radios come in 2 sizes. Single DIN & double DIN. Google it. Well, your beloved Bongo fits the Double DIN radios. These are the best. Miles better than standard single Car Radios. Her indoors doesn't know yet, but I've also just bought a Kenwood, Double DIN Radio, complete with USB input, AUX input, Bluetooth enabled, the lot. It is £169, plus fitting by the company, Safe & Sound in Droylesden, Manchester. All you have to do is remove the sunglasses holder above the radio slot. If is hard to remove, but it will come out if you gain entry by removing the Glove box and peering inside with a Torch. If you choose a new Double DIN Radio for your Bongo and you are unsure, simply go to your Auto electric Retailer and ask for a faceplate for the Double DIN radio you plan to buy. Believe me, there are some brilliant Double DIN kits (Touch Screen, Sat Nav, MP3, CD, DVD Player).
Hope this might be of interest to someone.
