Another temp gauge query

Hi got a fault with temp gauge today.
When pulling up to a stop in D with foot on brake, temp gauge drops off as if not working. Put it into P and handbrake on it goes back to normal running temp until you stop again. It sits at correct temp when running.
I suspect dodgy temp sensor or connection, where is it?
Has anyone had similar problem or any ideas?
Another thought, recently had gas conversion would they have linked in to the temp gauge for cut in point?
2.0L petrol 2wd auto.

As I have now found out it's the single green wire by
The egr pipe at the front right of the engine block,
Under drivers seat. Took mine off for a clean today.

If it's anything like mine, the temp sensor is built into the evaporator so it measures the coolant temp at the point it heats the LPG.

Proper Bongo? Are they the ones that won't let you sleep at night in case the overheat when they are parked up with no one even driving them? lol

What system have you got? mines BRC. I know mine is linked in with the cooling system but not sure why.

Was yours doing the same?

stuc check your alternator output on tick over, then revving, maybe a voltage issue.

Cheers Ady will look tomorrow, but had an alternator on not too long ago so hope its not that, it would be covered by guarantee though. Have you heard of temp sensors working intermittently?

Mine's also a BRC and switches over at about 40 degrees C which is normally a couple of minutes from cold. The reason why it's plumbed into the cooling system is that the fuel needs to be heated to vaporise it.

they work by splitting the voltage so any drop in voltage is soon noticed on the system.one reason is dirty or faulty sensor/wire, which yours maybe, or voltage dropping as revs drop, i have heard of the 2 ltr gauge being prone to being dodgy, maybe its mounted in a bad place.
