Bongo Fury

i've got a replacement wiper for the back. i've taken the back panel off the tailgate to find a plastic film over the back workings. i've cut a wee hole in that to access the wiper but now i'm faced with a kind of triangular-ish plate with screws and nuts in. do i have to take this off to change the wiper arm or is there a simpler way that i'm not seeing yet?

oh dear...... i've just found out there's a little cap that pops off the wiper, so i've changed it and struggled to put the back panel on (minus some lugs that have snapped) and my kids think it's hilarious that i made a 2 minute job last so long
