Admiral: my latest insurance quote.

Post by timmy » Mon Dec 02, 2013 8:42 pm

Have been insured with Lifesure for 7 of the past 8 years for my Ford Freda. Same gorgeous Freda since 2005.

Lifesure's quote 28/11/13 - TPFF, myself and partner 9yrs NCB, standard van £277 - (I didn't go ahead with this quote as I wanted to look around.)

Lifesure's second quote 02/12/13 - TPFF, myself and partner 9yrs NCB, standard van £361 - (I was told that this quote was higher as it was now December and a much more busy month driving-wise!!)

Admiral quote 02/12/13 - Fully Comp, usual £250 excess, myself and partner 9yrs NCB, standard van £244

So, I went with Admiral; what were Lifesure playing at? What became of my original quote (which was overpriced anyway) not being valid or held for a period of 30 days? So much for customer loyalty and beware people taking the p**s.

A big thanks to those that posted early telling us of their experiences with Admiral Insurance.

Happy Bongoing (8 yrs happy bongoing for me and planning on another few)

Tim

So if you took out the policy a week back when it was cheaper, does that mean you could not use the van in the 'busy' December period? You did the right thing to take your business elsewhere. Anyway what happened to the usual 'quote is valid for X days' that you get with any insurance quote?

Hello Simon,

That is exactly what I was told! I didn't think to ask them if I could park my van on the drive for Christmas and pay the cheaper premium!
I'm also concerned now, because if they had told me last week that to buy insurance next week, in December, would be at least 33% more expensive, I'd have 'bitten their bleeding arm off' and paid for it there and then!

I was angry with them after my years with them. Cutomer loyalty is not a concept or reality.

So I ran to the Forum and took other's advice on Admiral.

Thanks for your reply

Tim

PS
I haven't paid a visit to the site for a while now and don't post too often, (should I?)! So I'll stay for a bit and reaquint myself.

You're quite right!

I do tend to visit but don't contribute. Now that, I know, is just rude of me!

BTW, Your vehicle looks lovely in the photo. I hope it is just as lovely inside and trustworthy. :D

I've been threatening myself with a Bongo Bash one day!

That's a great looking van Simon. I wish sometimes that I had gone down that route with awning and ladder and possibly a small conversion. I feel its a bit late now after 8 years ownership. Thanks for the piccies. i'd love to think that I could replace my 18 year old with one a little newer but she has just kept on going.

Point of order Simon... In the first picture the deck chairs are facing the wrong way! Who in their right mind would have such a great van and spend their time looking out across the beach [-X :D

:D =D> Fair point. That was taken somewhere up by Harlech in north Wales a few years back. Not many beaches you can pull up for a brew in the middle of summer and have the place to yourselves.
