Bongo Fury

Yes it has rained a lot recently. Found my bongo very damp inside on the folded tent and the roof fabric soaking. Water sat n the channel around the fixed skylight has seeped inside. I wondered if there was a good way to fix this. Is the skylight removable? Anyone else already fixed similar problem?

Welcome to the forum. The skylight is bonded into the roof using the same type of adhesive that windscreens are fitted these days. An auto glazier should be able to sort it out for you. I seem to recall the tech manual has a better diagram, but these may help:

Short term, you could slap some silicon sealant around the joint, but it's worth getting it repaired properly.

If your having trouble to get it done as Simon s recommended there's a solution called sikoflex it's a strong bonding agent but also repels water you can obtain it on ebay but windscreens shops are the best answer

After just reading your leaky roof problem.......mine's doing the same, soaking wet roof fabric and tent..I would like to hear how you got on with it....I'm considering using a T shaped rubber seal to fit in the channel around the roof light.......any thoughts......cheers Paul.

Are you sure its not just condensation dripping off ?

Thank you for he suggestions thus far. First I will try my local trusted Garage to see if they will refit the sunroof. I don't know if that is possible without breaking the existing one. I had though about simply filling the channel with silicone sealant. That will be the fall back option.

hi....That's a option I'm considering,just ran some duck tape over the channel for the time being....

Its a bit specialised for a local garage maybe, unless they have done stuff like that before?

would not bother with a local garage...no oily bits/ I would use a good bodyshop or sunroof fitter but not before giving it a go myself. There are some good waterproofing products off the shelf that would probably do and only cost a few quid.

Silicon will probably fail in the sunlight...I would get some old style windscreen sealant like "Sealastic", and I agree with the "T" shaped seal, but press it into the Sealastic....tape it down well, and leave it for a few days before removing the tape....

791 Silicone Water seal is good for that type of job, it even wards off Evil Spirits.
