head torque settings

Hi fellow Bongo owners.

I've recently purchased a Bongo and the head has cracked. I've purchased a new head, radiator, hoses etc. I need to know the head bolt torque setting, including the two 10mm bolts in the head and the cam bearing cap torque setting? Further to this does anyone know the cold valve clearance?

Can someone please help me?

Thanks,

Ash.

Your best bet is to get a copy of the workshop manual, its available from the shop it has all the procedures and torque settings in it.
I have a V6 so my manual doesn't cover the diesel version, others maybe along shortly with the info.

Welcome aboard, Ash.

Make certain you find out why the head failed, otherwise it will go again.

Thanks for your help guys. I've replaced absolutely everything in the coolant system. New silicone hoses, thermostat, pump, rad, head, matrix flushed. Hopefully nothing should be restricting the flow and all sensors / fans are working.

It's cost me just over £500, so although a workshop manual is probably fairly cheap, I'm going to hold out to see if someone can help me with the torque settings and valve clearances. I'm skint and every bit of help will be appreciated. I was sent a link in my pm, buy it only goes to a link for an online book store / e-reader. I may be missing a trick here.

I forgot to mention, it's a 2.5Td on a 96 plate.

A big thanks to Supreme Being for his help.

I've found the torque setting. I called a garage that Specialises in Bongo repairs. They had all the tech info on a motor vehicle data base. So should be reliable. This is for the 2.5d engine.

The head torque is in three stages when using new stretch bolts:
Stage 1, torque to 29 nm
Stage 2, tighten to 90-105 degrees
Stage 3 tighten to 90 -105 degrees

The cam bearing caps torque to 13-14nm

The COLD valve clearance is:
Inlet= 0.05 – 0.15
Exhaust 0.15 – 0.25.

I’m not too sure about the two small 12mm headed bolts at the pulley end of the head. I will need to look further. I’m guessing around 18-20nm though.
:D :D

top right of this page is a search tab. type in silicone and hoses, there are lots of threads as to if they are a good thing or a bad thing to fit.
