Red Squirrel Campsite, Glencoe - 22nd/23rd February
Thanks to new member Scott (jinsin456) and the campsite masochists on the bushcraftuk forum (http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showth ... p?t=117349), we now have our first Scottish meet of the year in 4 weeks time!
I'm going to try to get there on Friday evening and will have the dutch ovens fired up on Saturday for some communal food, as last time.

It should be fine if you lot are remotely civilised and sit in chairs like the Bongo crowd when getting pissed. I don't think that my old bones would be happy sitting cross legged Indian style on the hard cold ground.

Haha none of that sitting on the ground nonsense, falling on the ground after a few cooking Branyt's has been know to happen in the past thoughMountainGoat wrote:It should be fine if you lot are remotely civilised and sit in chairs like the Bongo crowd when getting pissed. Hopefully yes although I have some building works on at home at the moment but it is a while since I managed to get away on my own and stretch my legs. Just trying to decide my mode of transport, with no Bongo these days it looks as though I will need to use a tent to get anywhere near you lot if you bag the usual place. There are not many places in the Red Squirrel Campsite where you can safely park up and manoeuvre a 6m long and 2.75m high 2WD motorhome thanks to the rocky ground and low tree branches.

Oh I'm so jealous! I love that campsite. Only gonna get as far as Jedburgh this year.

Jedburgh Jilly? Do you mean the Scottish Bash? It is going to be held in Lauder which is 21 miles further up the A68.

I'd watch where you pitch a tent Tony, these Bongos are prone to reversing into themMountainGoat wrote:

Seriously though,I'm sure if you venture up in your Motorhome we could find an ideal spot for you to pitch.

No Tony, I meant Jedburgh with a different group in June. Can't manage Scotland twice this yearMountainGoat wrote:Jedburgh Jilly? Do you mean the Scottish Bash? It is going to be held in Lauder which is 21 miles further up the A68.

Arrrrrg! this brings back old memories. Years ago I did some walking and climbing together with the late Jim Cosgrove of Forfar who was a member of both the Mountain Bothies Association and the Scottish Rights of way Society. Jim was reputed to have climbed all the Munroes three times so I often asked him for advice. In those days there were few guide books around so I would most often ask him for the best / easiest way up a mountain. Woe betide me if I got the Gaelic pronunciation wrong as Jim was a great stickler for getting it correct, a half hour lecture until I got it right was sure to follow.

too early and cold for us. especially with no electric hook-up.
