My hubby left the lights on and flattened the battery on the bongo and then my son bless him before we
managed to get the car jumped slamed the back door shut and now it wont open anymore. Any ideas what could be wrong? Ive got a feeling ive not heard the whiring noise for a couple of days from when the electrics pull the door in but
that could be another issue altogether.

The door is a common problem, the mechanism gets out of sync when it is operated without the power from the battery present.
You need to get the mechanism to cycle itself once the battery has been charged, there are two ways;
1. Quick and dirty you bash the inside of the door with the flat of you hand really HARD about halfway along and about a third of the way up, try a few times!
2. You remove the door handle ( need to remove circlip on the handle holding it to the shaft, push door panel inwards and you will see it ) then remove the door panel cut the plastic (mind the black goo) and rotate the mechanism inside by pushing it with a rod/screwdriver etc. once its cycled around once all will be well!

As the door mechanism relies on 12v electrics to operate. You need to get the battery charged back up to enable the electrical system to work. If the battery has been flattened completely, it will require a good charge to get it back a good level.

So it could just need a good charge and be ok then. The battery is on its way out. Time to get a new one. Leaving the lights on even for 20 mins is enougn to flatten it.

There's also a factsheet for fixing the door: http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/member ... ngdoor.pdf
