Suddenly concerned with my 2gether insurance

Post by oellph » Sat Feb 01, 2014 9:25 pm

We bought our Freda in early January and insured it with 2gether, who were great. During the telephone call they were asking what type of vehicle it was (Ford Freda) and whether it was converted (it isn't). They pulled back an initial cost of about £440 and the chap said he'd check with some other suppliers if I held on the line (which I did). He then came back with one for £280 from LV linked to the fact that we're doing under 5,000 miles per year and only using it as a leisure vehicle. The insurance cert came through and describes it as a Ford Freda Caravanette.

But the v5 has come back and its registered as a LGV. Now I'm worried that the insurance is incorrect. Should I be? :(

Some insurers seem to struggle to get the correct vehicle details as they are limited to whatevers on their system. Send them a copy of the V5 and ask them to confirm in writing that they have the appropriate vehicle type.

I have tried with this company.

Found them 'Less than polite' when I moved on.

Edit: Other insurance brokers are available and others have been 'Pushy' at renewal time.

Mods please pull if you think this doesn't comply.

Unfortunately I found this out the hard way myself – you want to make sure that anything you discus with them is guaranteed in writing before you strike a deal. I think that insurance is one of those specifics where you need to feel comfortable that they are going to support you when it comes down to it.
