Dodgy fuel gauge - earth fault?

Hi folks,

Having fuelled up our new Bongo a few times now, both when the needle was well into 'empty', the most I've been able to put in was 47 litres (40 the first time), which seems odd because as far as I can tell they all have 65l tanks (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm new to this)! Is this common, or could it be indicative of an earth fault? That was the main thing which came up on forum searches for 'fuel gauge' - http://igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/view ... =3&t=48363

21mpg on our first tank :-( but up to 27.5 now with 36/38psi in the tyres and a more cautious right foot!

Cheers,
Jamie

Sounds like a faulty earth 8) I put a new wire from underneath - tank lip to sill, 5 minute job :D

One minute job if you make up a lead with a croc clip at either end. Clip it into a hole at the tank end and somewhere secure on the bodywork.

The crocs get their teeth in nicely and if needed you can give them a wiggle every time you open up the driver's side lid for another reason.

To be on the safe side over new wiring regs I took it off for the MoT test but that day I knew how much I had in the tank. It wasn't the tester's problem that the gauge was reading minimum!
