Can anyone recommend Campsites on the Wye?

Can anyone recommend Campsites on the Wye?
Well I've bought my Bongo, bought awning, added leisure battery and now I'm ready to go camping.
I have twin 12 year olds and they would love to rent a canoe (not kayak) and paddle down the Wye.
Has anyone got any suggestions or advice (apart from don't have twins!)

Which Wye are you talking about?
Re: Can anyone recommend Campsites on the Wye?
It sounds as though you and your twins would benefit from discovering the Canoe Camping Club http://www.canoecampingclub.co.uk/ which is a section of the Camping and Caravanning Club which in turn is probably worth knowing about for good Bongo insurance deals as well as running a big network of campsites and publishing an excellent guide to commercial sites and certified locations.
Unfortunately I have not canoed the Wye with the club or camped there but I know they regularly do camp there and would be a good source of information.
Unfortunately, unless they take late bookings, you are probably too late to join their Wye Families Meet starting on May 23rd.

Thanks Frank. That was an excellent suggestion.
They have a meet there next half term. - Looks like I'll have to join.

Two in England, one in Derbyshire and one in Buckinghamshire
Plus several in lesser countries in the world

I didn't join until I was over 50, Perry, but that doesn't mean that it's an old codgers' club, I didn't get around to it earlier even though I had heard of them long before via the canoeing grapevine. I missed many valuable years not being a member.
They take the youth side very seriously and families with youngsters make good friends with others and thus keep the interest in canoeing and camping vibrant. I have camped with the club and also attended many day outings on rivers and some sea trips. as well as national meets they have regional groups which usually welcome participants from other groups (the exception would only be that, on certain sea and serious river trips, they would want to know your capabilities first).

Hi
Whilst you are on the subject of the River Wye...I suggest that you "take in" the bridge:

We've done that one!
(Not the real one, but where the film was made.)
All that is left is a couple of concrete foundations.

If you use Groupon, they have an offer on at the moment of a campsite called the Hollybush Inn which is on the Wye (in Wales) including canoe / kayak hire.

It's Bracelands Adventure Camp, not the C&CC site, which is next door. Has a cafe on site.Bob wrote:We stayed on a Forestry Commission site in the Forest of Dean a few years ago.
