Bongo Fury

Hi all, I hope you can help here. I've had a read through a number of posts and the FAQs, but can't find an answer.

My 2001 Y reg Bongo 2.5LV6 petrol has the an Eclipse double DIN unit installed which I want to replace. However, when checking the connectors on the back, it appears that neither the PC2-10-4 or PC2-78-4 ISO converters are going to fit. This is odd as I've not seen any others referenced.

The wires appear to be original, so I'm a bit confused. Did Mazda really have a different connector for a really short period of time?

Anybody experienced the same and/or have a solution?

The normal Mazda plugs/sockets in the wiring loom are NOT ISO standard, this is why you have to buy an adaptor to go from Mazda to ISO like these on Ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mazda-Bongo-I ... 257e3890ce

Are you sure you have traced the wires right back to the wiring loom and not just to the first adaptor fitted ?

Hi Geoff - Yes, it looks like there are original Japanese labels on the wires just before the connectors. I'll take another look later as one side had a couple of additional bits on - I'll take another picture. Cheers, Calum

OK, going back further to the loom, it appears to be a PC2-78-4 after all. It was partially shrink wrapped, so wasn't obviously a connector. So, now to choose a new stereo. Thanks for you help Geoff!

I found three sets of adaptors on mine when stripped all the wiring out, where they hid all the cabling is still a mystery to me!
