Bongo Fury

We're re-covering our tired seats in the Bongo, so I'm going to use this thread to show our progress.

We spent last night unpicking one headrest cover to use as a pattern & trying our best efforts to replicate to original cover in a different material.

We made pretty decent progress, I cut the material & tacked up, Mrs E did the sewing machine work.

due to the tight curve of the side panel they were a little tricky, but we are happy with the early results, just need to staple the cover on, as per original now.

Impressive!

Managed to borrow a heavy duty stapler so I can finish the front headrests off tonight. Sadly I couldn't find any Black staples, so I'll have to colour them in with a Black sharpie!!!

If I get time I'll start on the seats base/back too for the front seats.

Well, I'm very happy with that.

Drivers seat old covers in the wash, starting on looking at door card.

Decided whilst messing with the passenger seat to have a go at the passenger door too....

Looks good!

Hopefully the driver's seat and door card will be done by close of play tomorrow, the it's on to the large 2nd row. Thankfully we've removed the rear row

The drivers seat base is really tired. The foam is in a poor state having lost much of it's shape due do wear & tear from years of getting in & out.





So I cut some foam from the now defunct rear seat base and but up several layers using high temp interior trim adhesive. Then carved to shape using a small angle grinder.



Hopefully due to the new material having a foam scrim backing this is tidy enough.

They look great, especially the door card. Fancy doing another Bongo?!

Almost finished the drivers side now too. Refitted the upholstery last night, but due to the foam squab being quite tired it requires a little foam where you bum goes to pad it out a little. The material is a little baggy as a result. Off to Ebay to order some memory foam.

That's the front seats etc done. Quite pleased with it.
