Bongo Fury

Amongst the many jobs lined up for the winter is boarding the floor.

I've read the guide in the members area several times & it looks simple enough to do, but can anybody add anything of value to the info in the guide at all please before we start?

How long did it take those that have done it?

Let me know how you get on as I have thought of doing ours a few times.
Might happen now as I am in Bongo Mode, just fitted central locking and half way through a reversing camera

Did mine a couple of years ago and seem to remember it took about 5 hours over 2 days.Followed the fact sheet pretty much to the letter with no problems,tricky bit was trimming a little off the bottom of the side trim panels.Finished off across the back and sliding door with some aluminium angle.

There is a bit of information about flooring here, not just from my effort but from others as well.
The plywood i bought was from a local pallet company,cheap and easy sizes to work with.

Anyone done this and kept the standard seats?

I've had the carpet out and now all the docs seem to show those with rock and roll beds - not stock seats?

Mines now firmly under way, so using the carpet as a template I've cut the 12mm ply and split it into three parts. So its easier to handle.

For the wood it is easy peasy to get the runners in the right place as you use the opposite runner on the under side of the wood as a guide to draw around. Then grind out some grooves where the runners touch.

I then stuck down the insulation that was recommended by a friend with a T5 - this was super cheap at £8.

For the flooring I've lashed out on an offcut of Altro Safety flooring. £35 bargain.

Ply was £25 from Wickes I believe

Looks good. What insulation did you use? I've got some spare silver bubblewrap insulation rolls in the garage but don't want the bubbles popping when I tread on it

Had a price of £16- to ply line & cover with Altro safety flooring. at that price I'm going to pay them to do it.

We used some silver backed insulation at work the other day
It's insulation for under laminate flooring
But this stuff was a really heavy rubber matting with silver backing for soundproofing
Would be great for that job it would of been expensive it was a massive house , gym sauna games room in cellars etc
Have a look for some good quality laminate flooring underlay

Un ... boarding the floor ..

This was converted by the importer .. the guy had reason to lift up the boards a few years later .. and found this (and more) .. maybe policy to check and protect before boarding ..??

I used the screwfix stuff - and I thought exactly the same but with the weight spread across the board its been fine, no pops at all.

Mine came in at £25 board + £35 Altro +£9 Insulation + £5 Adhesive.
Takes hours though, so thats where your money goes!
If you had a template ready though you could do it so fast it'd be unbelievable.

I took the liberty of running a 10mm gauge power lead up to the rear conversion under the floor while I was at it to power the AV kit up there - its definitely looking a lot better inside now!

OK i'm all done - with the exception of the step, that seems to be the stumbling block.
Now its so much higher it doesn't want to go back on.

Anyone else have that problem?

Or if you have a hard floor can you show me a pic of how its done?

Not sure if it will work but fit some ply under the plastic step to lift it up (seen this on the T4 forum) and will try it on mine.
