Running Fan Heater

Post by marionw » Sat Nov 15, 2014 3:07 pm

Hi All,
I am totally dumb as to what voltage I can safely run in the van when on electric hook-up.
I have recently purchased a small , in size, fan heater from Tesco.
Stats. on box, 1800-2000W 220-240V-50Hz.
Can I use this without blowing the hook-up.
Pardon my ignorance,
Thanks in anticipation. :?:

Stick the info in here
http://www.supercircuits.com/resources/ ... -converter
So its about 8.3 to 9 amps depending on the exact voltage so as long as the hook up is 10 amps it should be fine.
Just consider the noise of the fan if you have it on at night, some people prefer a storage heater or panel type heater

And I'm guessing it can run on half power to give a good safety margin.

Yes
Not sure of your location but Home and Bargain if you have one have a good range of panel and oil filled radiators in at the moment, fans are good but the noise will annoy you in the night

That is a BIG heater for the size of van when run on full power. The little oil filled radiators available from Argos rated at 400w are ideal for running in the van, no danger of too much heat in one spot, no noise and no air vents to get blocked.

Hi All,
Thanks for all your replies.

I don't intend having it on overnight, just a quick heat up if sitting in van at night.

Think I may return it though and look into other suggestions made by you.
