This years French trip all booked

Post by janie » Mon Jan 26, 2015 4:27 pm

All booked for this years jaunt around France. Taking my teenage daughter and her best friend too so should be fun.....just 6 months of increasing excitement to deal with and we'll be off. So looking forward to another proper long bongo trip and if last years is a good example of success then I can't wait!

Aye - Pics - I don't recall seeing any from last year's expedition unless I was asleep at the time

Anyone else going anywhere sunny this year? There were no bongos at all last year to wave at (one at the port in Plymouth, but they never even looked at us :( ).

We went last year - and took a few photos

We're heading over to France last week July / start of Aug, returning via Hampshire - Wickham Festival.

No more details as yet on the itinerary. Maybe just wing it, may make a plan!

As I recall we just missed one another. We go on the 21st July, Plymouth-Roscoff. Couple of weeks around Royan area then up through Loire for a week or so (possible including vineyards and castles  on our way to Dieppe for the ferry home

We are going to the Auvergne in March, it will be spring so weather can be mixed but hopefully some sunshine. This will be bongles first long journey with us as we just got her in December. We have a static caravan on a lovely site in Orcet near Clermont Ferrand so we are going to be using the bongo to get there and back. As we live inthe North East it is a long drive to the tunnel so we can stay in the bongo overnight an break the journey. We are also there in the summer for three weeks and will be using her to tour around a bit. Really looking forward to it.

Sounds lovely - I love driving in France. We stay in the bongo for the whole trip - Kids in a tent and us 'upstairs' in campsites and us downstairs and teenagers banished to the roof on aires. Speaking of which, if anyone knows any good aires near Dieppe I'd be grateful of your advice...we normally travel though Plymouth and need a stopover on the way home.

There's an Aire de Services in Dieppe itself, punch 49.93011, 1.08647 into Goggle Maps or your GPS

Thanks Muz - don't do GPS (prefer to get lost the old fashioned way) but I'll have a look at google :)

I agree, I prefer to look where I'm going rather than blindly follow instructions, but at the planning stage it's handy to have a route in mind - not that it ever works out that way!

Try 50.058310, 1.364041 in Treport to the east of Dieppe, or if you want to stop quite a bit short of Dieppe try 48.402361, -0.088417 just to the west of Alençon

I'm a sucker for the planning stage.......cheers, I'll have a look. The one in dieppe looks handy if huge.
