rusted side panel - north west garage
I went to a garage about my bongos rusted wheel arches but when they got her up on the ramp it was apparent that the bottom of the drivers side panel was in a very bad way. I've seen the fact sheet on rusted wheel arches - can a similar thing be done with the side panel and if so is there a make and model which is a good fit?
The garage also suggested that as we have a side conversion on that side with the gas pipes on the drivers side they would have to take out the conversion before it was safe to carry out any work. Is this the case?
And lastly can anyone recommend any garages in the north west that would be happy to undertake this kind of work?

Hi Rachey,
I see you are in the North West not sure how North West you are. We live in Cumbria near Grange Over Sands and Lee Evan's (http://www.evansautobody.co.uk/) in Flookburgh is top bloke around here. Also Camp Road Garage are our mechanic's of choice, also located in Flookburgh. Both have a vast knowledge would be worth ringing them up I think. We usr them and they are brilliant.
Hope it help if you are our North West kinda way
Jo

Thanks Jo. I'm in Liverpool, so not quite as north west as you but I might give them a ring. Thanks for replying.

Thanks, I'll get in touch with them. Any ideas about replacing the bottom of the side panel?

There's a member in the midlands who had the whole of the driver's side replaced, amazing job when you see it and how they did it. It was done at Enterprise Accident Repair Centre, Unit 8-9 Hadley Park Industrial Estate, Hadley Park Road, Telford, Shropshire TF1 6PY. www.enterprisearc.co.uk

I'd go with Ian Taylor in stoke (jap imports).
he has a body shop, it's his bread and butter and they work they do is rather good.

I agree (although Muz's suggestion sounds interesting). Ian Taylor is extremely experienced with Bongo bodywork if you don't mind the distance to Stoke on Trent. Wheelquick though may be able to direct you to someone local. I imagine its going to be a sheet metal job wherever you go?novocaine wrote:I'd go with Ian Taylor in stoke (jap imports).
