Bongo Fest South West Thursday 10th to Monday 14th September

Post by Ian » Sun Jun 07, 2015 8:42 am

Once again we will be holding this meeting at Camping Caradon near Looe. We have booked all 80 slots on the site and these will go on sale on Thursday 9 July. Priority will be given to those booking a minimum of 3 nights. If there are any pitches left, these will go on sale on Thursday 16 July.

This is a members only event and you fill find further details in the "Rallies & Meetings" section of the member's area on the main website.

I have to question the decision to give priority to those who are booking 3 nights. Due to work I can only make it on the Friday and Saturday nights and I'm sure I'm not the only one in this position. This is the only bash I can make this year and it will be a shame if the pitches get booked up and like possibly many others won't be able to go. This wasn't the policy last year.
I've already booked a days leave from work to coincide with this event.
I can, I do, I did.

Send me an email to [email protected] and I'll see what I can do.

One of the problems we find with block booking of sites, including Caradon, is that if people book 2 nights (typically Friday and Saturday) then the campsite has a vacant pitch they can't fill on the Thursday and Sunday nights. Which is why we are putting in to place a priority booking system. We already do this for the Bongo Bash and will have to repeat it at other meetings as well. Camping in the UK is getting more popular and the big sites are becoming increasingly reluctant to have unused pitches during our block bookings.

Electric hook ups (75 available) are £15 per night, non-electrics (5 available) are £11 per night. There will be a BBQ and disco on Saturday night.

A few people have mentioned the new priority booking system (min of 3 nights). So we have decided to keep 15 slots back for those who only want to stay Friday & Saturday nights. This means the campsite know they have 15 pitches available for Thursday & Sunday nights.

Bookings are always by phone for club meets (see http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/member ... tm#rallies) - presumably it's easier to manage the numbers booked 8)

Success - managed to get through and book two nights. Just on tenterhooks now to see if we have actually managed to get one of the 15 pitches which have been put aside [-o<

We can't take the boy out of school and as this is the only Bongo meet local enough to enable us to attend we are pacing the house with everything crossed ...................... that's really hard to do

There are just 3 x 3 day slots left. The 15 x 2 day electric pitches go on sale next Thursday 16th July. We also have 5 non-electric pitches, no minimum booking requirement.

Booked today; Very excited!
Only 2 nights due to work/school etc hence the late booking, but looking forward to it nonetheless.
