Hello Ian,
I've never met him, but he must have been a good lad because he was a Bongo dog. They don't die, they just go beyond our reach and to say "sorry to hear this" seems somehow inadequate. I know where you are at this moment and though you think the black will never fade away, it does eventually start to turn grey.
We commissioned an oil on canvas of Kam, our much missed collie before he went to the bridge and it helps a lot. Though he is no longer there when I wake in the morning, he is still there in the lounge and when I see the twinkle in his eye I smile a little.
You never know, at some time in the future another dog may come along and choose you both as his companions. I hope so, for then you will be blessed again.
As somebody once said to me on here, dogs leave their pawprints on our hearts.
