That old chestnut: Body kits

Hello.

I am looking for a body kit for my 96 Bongo but they seem to be like gold dust.

I've tried a couple of breakers and I am on a couple of 'waiting lists' but I am not holding my breath! I am also pretty sure that custom-built ones will be way out of my price-range... In saying that, I am prepared to pay a little bit for something that looks good.

I don't even want some kind of mental sports kit or anything like that. Just some skirts and a bit of a 'chin' for the front - I still want to get over speed bumps around campsites!

Surely there is some other way to get a body kit for a Bongo? What about options like finding a generic kit or kit for a similar sized car that will fit?

Any other thoughts/ideas appreciated!

I wonder if Dave/Kloonsy at Barnsley Auto Panels (or whatever they're called now) might be able to help. They are involved in making replacement panels and wheel arch trims from Bongos so may have an idea.

Just found a moment to have a look. I think it may be this lot (The Bongo Bodyshop):

yep - that old chessnut

I did have a master plan

if yours is spot on

find another bongo with a kit on - swap it on to yours and re flog the newly bought

yep - that's madddddd

lol - so is also trying to find one lol

I want some chrome side bars

but no fabricators - im sure some one with skills could fabricate with nice t5 bars to suit

van x did them for a while - could kick myself for not buying at the time

they don't do them anymore

Hi Andy
There's always fabricators, but the cost is what it costs, and stainless isn't cheap...I can probably get bars made and chromed here...and at a good price...BUT....stainless is hard to find here in terms of fabricators
Cheers
Helen

I have just bought a project Bongo to fix up over the winter and sell on in spring, and guess what it has a bodykit on apart from the front skirt. I think I have decided to put it back to standard but if I do take the kit off I would be looking for good money as they are very rare. It is not an aero kit but some kind of aftermarket Jap kit.

Ive done a lot of research into this and short of spending a £1000 on shipping from Japan or New zealand you just have to wait for something to come up. Ive got 90% of the aero kit at home mostly from ebay Ive got lucky with people advertising things wrong and Ive had a keen enough eye to pick them up. Ive been told golf front splitters are a close fit (mk4)

Hi Andy hope your enjoying the grill. I have a golf mk2 splitter at home than I dont think is a million miles away from fitting it was £18 off of ebay and you would need 2 to make it fit. Also I think a mazda premacy sport front bumper splitter maybe a close match. I was looking at going this route myself as others have said I too am missing the front bumper/splitter.
