Afternoon. My driver's door window switch stopped working. I bought a second-hand one but when I fitted it, that didn't work either. I bought a second switch, fitted that, but that doesn't work either. I asked my garage to test it and they said there was nothing wrong with the circuit. But I cannot bring myself to buy a third switch because I have a feeling it is just not the switch that's at fault. It doesn't seem likely that all three switches were duff.
Any thoughts or experience you can share, please?
Thanks
Richard

Re: Driver's door window switch
Are you 100% confident the garage know how to test auto electrics, otherwise suspicion has I think to move to the wiring (harness) on the drivers door. It is quite common for wires to fracture inside the harness due to repeated flexing over the years, usually near the grommet where the harness disappears into the car bodywork.Bestyrich wrote:Afternoon. Re: Driver's door window switch
There is a little On/Off switch below, and at 90 degrees to, the two window switches, make sure its on, otherwise likely what Mike suggests.
Where are you? Someone might take a look for you.

Re: Driver's door window switch
As you say, unlikely all switches were duff. Almost certainly a break in the wiring where it passes between the door and body just above the lower hinge. (As suggested).Bestyrich wrote:Afternoon. Unwrap the bundle as needed to examine each conductor and I bet you will find a break, usually at the lowest point of the curve between frame and door.
