I came across this during an idle moment. It gives a good overview of common problems on the Bongo.

Nice one.
Worth a 'Sticky' and/or add to the 'Buying a Bongo' info in the Mamber's Area.

Hi I can't figure out how to post this on a separate post??
Our 1997 2.5 diesel Bongo was loosing coolant last year, I drove it a few weeks ago and there was a gurgling & knocking noise from the front header tank & the temperature gauge went up to h, parked it up & haven't driven it since, I've bought a thermostat & water pump & a 1.1 header tank cap which I'm going to attempt myself, any advice would be very helpful, reading post on this site I'm thinking its the head gasket???

The comment in the article about looking for oil in the header tank as being a sign of head gasket failure might be true for many vehicles but I've never heard of any Bongos exhibiting that symptom.

That's probably because the WLTD (normally) uses a multi layer gasket and its usually the head that goes crackers, but the gasket can still leak between the valve gear oil supply port and the water jacket .
