Hi everyone,

A light came on, on the dashboard this morning - never seen it before. It's amber and says 4W ABS.....please can someone tell me what it means and how to get rid of it (I don't like warning lights).

Thanks

Jane

There's a factsheet that explains how to read the diagnostic code: http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/member ... ts/abs.pdf

It indicates there is a fault with the Anti Lock Braking system ..

The most common reason is a duff wheel sensor ..

I tried to read the codes on my Bongo but could not suss them out .. checking the resistance on all the four wheel sensors with a multi meter proved they where OK ..

Put 12volts directly to the hydraulic pump .. that was was working fine .. it turned out to be simply a poor electrical connection in a multi pin plug under the plastic coolant tank ..

I had this problem last year. After checking with a multimeter that there was no problem that end - a mate showed me a little tip.

Checking the sensors with the wheel removed, he used a small piece of sandpaper to clean off the 'teeth' on the sensor (they can get significantly 'gunked up' with all sorts of debris).

A little 'labour intensive' but worked for me - cheaper than buying a replacement part. :D

This also comes on if you have defective brake lamps - or if you replace them with LED ones. It might also be wired to the brake fluid level sensor (can't remember if this is the case, but worth checking)
