The usual regular fuel price hike dates

As usual, the fuel prices went up in anticipation of Mothers' Day and all the driving around which that involves.

Surprise, surprise, they've just gone up again for the Easter motoring blip in the economy.

I now find that the short lived pleasure of paying less than £1 per litre, for both diesel and petrol, is over.

We still have the other traditional ransom dates, May Day and Spring Bank Holiday to come, so by the time schools break up for summer and August Bank Holiday looms, what will we be paying? 110.99P, maybe 120.99P? Have I left out taking the kids to uni week and laying up the caravan week?

I foolishly imagined that this might not happen this year and prices would keep dropping. No chance.

Back to looking for cooking oil deals and a hallway full of 5 litre containers.

Our Tesco has gone up from 97p a litre to 103p a litre in a week yet our Asda has stayed at 97p.

Our prices are normally fairly close round here but all of a sudden over the last week we have got a difference of about 8p between garages along the same road.

I'm guessing it is a sign that all prices will be on the up.
