Copied this over from a review I left on CCC site
Down there again this weekend. Cant get over how well it is situated. Had a great Friday in the White Hart in Tenterden with a singer and good beer and the stagger back to the van through the fields was an experiance I will never remember but we made it!
A hidden gem of a certificated site. Very peaceful and well situated. Lots to see and do locally if that takes your fancy. On high ground it has excellent views across the adjoining fields of sheep and lambs. There is a wild camping area suitable for off gridders both campervans and tents. A woodland doggy walk with a lake of voracious Carp waiting for you to feed them the food provided. Away from main roads- at night there is not a sound apart from wildlife. In the lobby area of the washroom are paperbacks and DVDs to borrow as well as information of whats on and where to go. Very easy to find simply turn off from the A28 into Swains Road and continue on until the road forks, take the right fork and Gate Lodge is along on the right. . A map on the wall of the toilet block shows a 40 min walk through fields of sheep to Tenterden. Just the right length for a nosh in town without feeling guilty about what you ate! Tenterden has an array of shops, pubs and eateries as well as a Morrisons and Tesco for produce and fags and a monthly local produce market. On the roadsides around there are a number of private vendors selling home grown fresh veg and eggs etc. Walk from the site back down Swains Rd you find a good selection of shops; post office, convenience store, pub, hardware store, a butcher who will put together a barbecue pack given notice, a chippy, two take aways-a Chinese (they will deliver to the site) a Kebaby, hairdresser, and a petrol station so all you would need within a reasonable walking distance. Ashford town is an easy drive as are the surrounding villages. We recommend, Woodchurch, a five minute drive, and its pub The Bonny Cravat, very reasonably priced menu the food is locally sourced and well cooked. If you are looking at Sunday lunch then you will need to book as thats when the locals come out in force to eat. So you can see this peaceful little site is well situated for touring the locale or just pitching up and kicking back.
Well worth a look.
Anyone doing Detling this weekend? 45 quid for three nights entertainment included and exclusive to campers.
