Hi there just received my Bongo and I love it , there's a couple of switches I'm not sure of . What does the switch to the right of the steering wheel do with the engine management symbol on it ? Also what does hold do on the gear lever on the auto? Cheers all

Welcome to Bongo ownership.

The mystery "engine management" switch sounds like it is the cold weather quick warm up switch. If it works it switches a valve in the exhaust pipe which has a habit of seizing in the start-up position. So best left alone!

The Hold button button stops it changing up to the gear selected, keeping the gear below. Useful for applying engine breaking and to stop it keep changing up and down on twisty roads.

The English glove box handbook is well worth getting as it a wealth of general information ..

You'll know if it is stuck in the wrong position! The engine runs badly.

Are you waiting for the orange coil light to go out before starting?
Get your glow plugs checked out before chilly mornings are back with us.

Normal in my experience, even after new glowplugs. I have had two Bongo's & both have been the same, don't worry about it it.

The HOLD button does lots of things depending on what drive range you are in. Just experiment, you can't damage it - the electronics won't allow you to do something it doesn't like.

I never depress the throttle when turning the key, and I don't use the throttle for 5-10 secs after starting. And I wait until the orange light is safely out. By doing that, Bongo always starts at the flick of a key and never shows lumpiness. I also like to leave my engine running for a a minute of so before moving off 1st thing in the day. Let's the old lump get out of bed before setting off.
