AFT hatch open with roof down?

Hi All,

Newbie query here...

Is it OK for the AFT hatch to be open so that you can let light come through the sunroof when the roof is closed?

There is a thin mattress up there and with the hatch open it makes it quite a bit deeper, but not massively though. I just wanted to check as I didn't want to lower the roof if its not meant to work like that.

Cheers
James

Yes! Its also quite common to remove the pins from the hinges so that the hatch becomes a sliding one rather than a hinged one, then you can adjust it even with the roof down!

You will probably find that the hatch is meant to be in the open position when the aft is vacant for several reasons, IE sky light / checking when half way down and to stop pressure build up.

Hi,

Keeping the hatch open means there is a bit of ventilation in the AFT, which helps keep the mildew at bay, as does keeping the eyebrow vent at the front top of the tent canvas permanently open.
