Space saver temporary spare tyre purchase

Post by goodlucktrev » Tue Aug 09, 2016 9:23 pm

I can not find anywhere that sells a T135/90 D15 Temp Use Only space saver spare tyre for my S reg Bongo 4WD 2.5 Diesel camper van. The alloy wheels are all fitted with 195/70R15C 104/102R Nexen CP321 tyres but the 'spare' has a very old tyre on that needs replacement. Can anyone help with online suppliers? I live in Bury St Edmunds Suffolk
Thankyou

Your best bet is to source a 15" steel wheel and tyre.

This will be the same rolling circumferance as the space saver and will fit under the back of Bongy.

Someone did source a few new ones some while back but I don't think they can be had now, and a full size used steel and tyre will likely be a lot cheaper.

Note you may require different wheel nuts for the steel spare.

Hi,

A lot of people bin the space saver and use a full sized steel rim with "proper" rubber on it. Straight steels are frequently available from Bongo breakers and importers/owners who fit alloys. You will probably find that even if you have to buy brand new rubber and a second hand full sized rim it will work out cheaper than a space saver tyre.
There is plenty of room under the Bongo for full size rubber.

I have an old space saver with tyre on it. Free to a good home. Needs wire brushing and probably a new tyre too.

Hi Bob,
I see, not looked into it but now understand about the tyre problem on the space saver, I will probably
take it to the dump . LOL
Hope you and Sue are well and enjoying your retirement. :D

I managed to purchase a space saver tyre about two years ago. I was told that there were only two available at that time in the UK. It cost nearly £100.

Yes I can confirm the full size tyre and steel wheel fit at the back under the Bongo no prob. Definitely cheaper and better than the old spacesaver wheel and tyre.
