Bongo Fury

We are off for our first weekend away in our new bongo with a 2 yr old and a 4 yr old. I am hoping for an enjoyable and relaxing time

I have an awning, a table and chairs ( mucky angels my lot). I have sleeping bags, a ridge monkey and bikes wetsuits etc. I have some pre made food and beans soup for quick food. I have a kettle, plates and a cork screw.

Have I forgotten anything? Any words of advice or suggestions? Our first attempt at a sleepover in the bongo ended up with us heading home at 9pm!

leave the little darlings at yer mums, then you can have a little sherry with the other half, then what happens after that doesnt mater. .

Haha we did think of that but she's busy!

Awning lantern, torch or head torch (1 each is good).

Always take loo roll when visiting the site facilities. Even on the best sites it can run out and it can be a long walk back to your pitch to get some.

Wet wipes will solve a lot of troubles.

Washing up bowl and detergent, a large one (or 'Trug' type bucket) can be good to take dirty dishes to the site washing up sinks, there's always a friendly chat to be had here and often easier than in a little camper sink.

Bottle opener.

Plenty of fuel in case of diversions/hold ups, which if you live near us have been severe lately.

Thanks all good tips. Totally forgot about washing up. Always carry tonnes of wetwipes!

Awning latern still en route from China

A china awning lamp is likely to get broken camping, try a plastic one from camping shop.

Seriously though, they can be had from about a fiver from the likes of Millers or Argos, might be worth picking one up.

Microfibre towels are great.

Might head to trago tom and look for travel towels. Ordered the light as recommended in here and only after realised it had a long way to come doh. Just about to get everything out and see what I can actually cram in. Then will repack probably.

No spam but have corned beef. Does that count?

That sounds familair, remember you need seats for other half and children.

What Bob said .......a trug, some washing up liquid, some jaycloths, lots of drying up towels as your kids will drop them on the floor while they are helping you (yes, I know how old they are!). Torches and / or lanterns, and maybe a string of battery operated fairy lights when you've got time to get some

In our Bongo, the anti bacterial washing up liquid doubles up as soap (although not as shower gel or shampoo).

Don't forget cutlery, a proper sharp knife and a small chopping board (Asda often have packs of three in differing sizes), a serving / stirring spoon, saucepans if they weren't already on your list (get camping ones from Trago if you're going. Two sizes, nest into each other with a clip on handle). Stuff from home takes up a lot of room and is heavy. Matches or a wand lighter (not a cigarette lighter) for your stove.

Something easy to slip on the littlies feet to go to the loo in - nothing worse than faffing with shoes in the middle of the night.

Actually there's loads of things I could suggest, but that'll probably do for your first trip out. You can always build on it next time.

Smaller children can be 'Showered' in a trug, too.

Can save a lot of queuing and hassle at site showers.

Poundland watering can and a flannel...

The only thing we ever really forgot was an extension reel to run mains in the awning.

For double protection we got one with a built in RCD, then the Bongo has RCDs and the EHU should have too.

We needed the extension though as the oil fired heater wouldn't reach the socket from its safe spot.

We prefer to use the kettle etc. out in the awning where it is less likely to get knocked over.
