Radio and Rear View Camera Screen Replacement

I went to Halfords to ask about replacing my Bongo radio with something that will play more than Radio 2 and to get rid of the aggressive Japanese lady on the built in SatNav ;)
The 12 year old that helped me told me that the lead for the rear view camera was the wrong type and that I would have to replace the camera (£90) as well as the radio. I somehow think this is not right...
Can any of you esteemed Bongo experts help me out? I would assume there is some kind of adaptor you can buy. The 12 year old said that my camera had a square adaptor. He also damaged my dashboard :(

Thanks in advance for any advice.

He might be right, in that the Jap type camera probably won't have the correct plug on it, also it will probably require power in the same plug, and the Jap standard is not the same as our PAL but a variant of NTSC. But without checking the make/model/variant you can't say for certain!
Its normally a lot easier to replace it with a more modern camera and display that can handle most variations.

Well that makes sense Geoff, thanks for the reply. I will try to have more faith in youth.
