Cold heaters problem solved...

Finally got to the bottom of my heaters not blowing hot air.
Well actually Mike at wheel quick nr Wigan has!

The heaters were luke warm at best and only cold to the rear cabin, also back pressure in the system seemingly trying to force coolent out of most hoses joints.

Decided to nurse the van the hundred miles from cumbria to Wigan to let Mike have a look, 24 hours later wheelquick phoned to say all was sorted!

Turns out the new radiator fitted by its previous owner was jam packed full off Radweld or something similar, coolent was more like mud than water!

Looks like a metal coolent pipes had gone which has caused the rad to blow, which was replaced but the pipes must have carried on leaking hence copious amounts of Radweld added to block it.

Rear heater matrix had to be back flushed as well and the system fully bled again but all looks good now, really pleased that it's nothing more serious!

Well worth travelling to a bongo friendly garage and really would recommend others to do the same if possible.

Diagnosis is likely to be a lot quicker and saves going round in circles with well meaning but inexperienced mechanics.

Anyway hope this helps someone in the future,

Dave.

Really useful update and a sobering warning against using leak stopping additives
