Hi,

The engine has a "sweet spot" between between 2000 and 2500 rpm on a light throttle. You will know when you hit it, the noise level drops and if road conditions allow you to keep it there the fuel consumption will drop to an "almost economical" level. I did quite a bit of the M4 & A34 and back on Saturday and got 33.6mpg running on about 20% veg oil. I'm very happy with that, but it might have been better without the patches of fog.
If you aren't in too much of a hurry, the Bongo is a really pleasant comfortable place to be on a longish trip.
Exactly what your temp gauge reads depends exactly where the sensor is fitted. What you are looking for is any reading that is not normal for your vehicle. My TM normally sits at around 89, rising slightly when loaded up steep hills.
