Navi

Happy new year to you all. Santa kindly left me some money for a new DAB radio , I popped off to halfords all excited that I didn't have to listen to a badly tuned radio 2 for much longer but the halfords bod couldn't remove the original double din navi system. He thinks it is bolted in or needs a special key or something, I did however see where the CDs now go after owning it for 5 months
I have checked the members area but cannot find any info on this model, can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Never come across a radio that was bolted in. My original dual din Jap fitted radio came out with the use of removal tools that fitted into slots either side of the radio facia. Same as all other radios I've ever had. You may need to visit an auto electrician who has a good selection of removal tools. Or perhaps purchase some as kits of selections of theses are available on the net.
I would suggest a search of the brand fitted on the internet may uncover some information on its removal method.

It sounds very much like the one I had on delivery. Mine had the swivel down front, and the CDs go in the rear panel. My double din just popped out with a bit of encouragement. I've never heard of one being bolted in. To be honest, I wouldn't bother with Halfords. They are ok if replacing like for like, but I found they were way, way out of their depth with a unit they didn't see very often. They issued me with dire warnings about the cost of specialist auto electricians, and rates per hour. All nonsense of course, but some may believe it. Mine was done in about an hour and a half, using a local chap, at what I thought was a fair price. Therefore, Windy's tip about the auto electrician is a good one, but if it's anything like mine, be prepared for a load of wire spaghetti on removal!

Good luck
Mike

There is also one other thing you can do.
If you have not yet tried it. Remove the passenger glove box. To do this drop down the glove box pull the R/H & L/H side of the box inwards so that the pegs that stop it dropping open are pulled clear of the aperture & pull box out from its hinge points. You can then very easily get your hand in behind the radio. One to investigate its fixing & two, you may well be able to exert some pressure from behind that may if your lucky force the radio out of the aperture.

Cheers

Another vote for try somewhere other than Halfords. I love them to bits for certain items and services but they have little to no training before being let loose. They almost certainly won't have seen a Japanese import in the 6 weeks since they left school and joined Halfords :D
Vivaro named Stewart however ex '96 4wd 2.5TD owner.
