Base seconds

I need a pop up tent for a completely separate purpose. I would get a cheap £50 one but am thinking about getting a quechua base seconds instead so it could be used with the bongo.

We have a royal traveller drive away awning but it can be a pain to put up for a short trip. So thinking the base seconds might be good for short trips.

So, is it really that much quicker to put up?
How does it connect to the bongo, or does it just sit next to it?

Any other thoughts or advice?

They're brilliant, up and pegged out in about 5 mins if you really focus :D

They don't actually attach but they do sit quite nicely, although I quite like attaching a tarp to figure 8 with a length of co-ax cable and have a covered area between the Quechua and the bongo

Love ours - got rid of our awning (couldn't be bothered with it). It does take up quite a bit of room when travelling (a huge circle), but it pops up in a second and we find it easier and quicker to put away then a small pop-up.

The instructions are a youtube video, so you could watch that before buying!

We also bought the inner tent for when the kids are with us - although it leaves you without an 'awning' it makes a lovely big tent.

I love my quechua base and am not parting with it. However, if you're interested, I have a 4.1 available for sale. It's like the base but has a bedroom attached that sleeps 3 easily. Let me know if you're interested. It is a larger footprint and there is only one door to the outside, so possibly not what you need.

Unfortunately the 4.1 doesn't look like it would suit. I'd like the two doors too use it with the bongo.

I just need to check if the base seconds is too big for its other intended use. Hopefully it will just be ok. If so I'll get one ordered. It looks like decathlon is the best place to get one from.

Well I purchased one,

Will hopefully try it out in the Easter holidays. Time to start getting the bongo ready for camping again.

Roof rack needs to go back on, roof box back on and all the camping gear needs to go back in.

When I first got mine I made the mistake of trying it out in the front room, don't do that it's a silly idea. Try it outside

I can't believe you posted that about trying it in the living room!

It was delivered today so when I got back from work, I tried it in the living room!

Was just going to post to say it isn't a good idea to try inside!

It fitted ok but you need a bit more space to swing it round etc.!

That will teach me to check the forum first!

At least I now know I'm not alone!

Bought ours in France (due to inclement weather and soggy teenagers). No internet, so no clue how to pack it away......cue all four of us not so subtly or casually spying on other campers over their hedges.

I thought nobody else could possibly think that was a good idea. You must be as daft as me.

I got it from decathlon online but they look to be out of stock now.

A friend of mine wanted to buy one after I got mine and said they were out of stock, looks like I got one just in time.

Used it at the weekend (without the bongo) and it was fantastic!

AFAIK Quechua is a Decathlon brand, I've only seen them sold by them at least. Hopefully this is just a temporary out of stock thing.
