A few of us are going to High Laning at Dent for 2 nights commencing Friday 28th July. Margaret (site owners) has allocated us 8 electric and 2 non-electric spaces. Confirmed so far are

Ian & Marianne
Robert White
Dave Lewis ("Beachguild")
Jane & Jason (including Bert and Ernie)
Northern Bongolow (perhaps).

Which leaves 6 electric and 1 non-electric pitch which will be allocated on a first-come-first served basis. If you want to book, post on here. All bookings require a £10 deposit (details to follow).

Campsite website is here: http://www.highlaning.com/

Although the site has full facilities it is very remote at the far NW end of the Yorkshire Dales, just in to Cumbria. Cost is £22.50 per night including hook-up and 2 adults.

From memory the road from the west isn't any too clever either but it was a while ago when I was last there. There was a truck coming the other way so I pulled in to give it room, but there was a VW camper behind me (not with me I hasten to add  ) whose driver was unable to reverse it to another passing place, in the end the truck driver had to do it for her #-o A few minutes later (seemed like an eternity) we were all on our way and my chips had gone cold [-X

The road from the west is better provided you don't meet anything, but from the east you get wonderful views!

In summary. The road from the South is narrow and gated. The road from the West is narrow in places but must be OK because it is the way the bus goes to Sedbergh. The road from the East is steep, twisty, with a very narrow bridge. And the road from the North has a very, very, very steep descent in to Dent Dale.

They all sound quite interesting, other than the one from the South as its bound to be raining if I take that route!

We could be interested in this but do they do just one night bookings, the usual embroidery classes would stop us getting there on Friday :?

Yes, one night will be fine.

We now have the following confirmations.

Muz
Beachguild (Dave & Ann Lewis)
Northern Bongolow
Ian/Marianne
Robert (Marianne's brother), non-electric
Gill Warriner
Geoff (g8dhe)
Paul Horton
Jane/Jason (co-starring Bert & Ernie)
Muz

That means just 1 non-electric pitch left. No need for deposit, pay on arrival, but either post here or email me ([email protected]) to let us know if you want the remaining slot.
