Bongo Fury

Hello all,

I am excited to join the Bongo community, I have just purchased an 1985 mazda Bongo truck (1.8 gas 5sp 4wd). It's in great shape but when I hit 110kmh the speeding alarm goes off and in the states I am consistently hitting that speed. Does anyone know were the speaker is? Or have any online repair manual so I can figure it out?

Depending on the make/model of the control box/module the speaker could be in the unit itself,if not follow wiring and or the Sound to find it. Can you post a pic or the make and model of the unit.you should also be able to cancel or increase the set alarm.

Just make sure you dont have Roadrunner under the hood.

Can't help with your dilema, I'm afraid, and I think your Bongo may be a different model to the 1995-2004 Friendee which mostly look at here.

That said, there's a wealth of knowledge the guys here possess and if someone can help they will, as already shown.

Be great to have an owner of another Bongo type on here.

it says they were assembled in hiroshima, maybe its an alarm for something else.

Yep, very useful looking truck.

Cab and instruments look similar to the Bongo Brawny. My mate's no-turbo diesel 'M' reg Brawny hasn't got a speed warning. I'll reword that, if it's set to 110 km/hr his would need a very steep downhill to test it. So a big round of to your speedy gas burner.

It's probably an aftermarket device fitted by previous owner. The Japanese seem to love adding miles of extra wiring and gizmos to their vans .

Ashamed to admit i've just bought and fitted one of Dodgey's (Roger, www.solarcampersolutions.co.uk) bongo solar panel kits, further adding to the wiring jungle (very well routed behind trim etc and professional looking installation if i do say so myself ). Oh well, life's a jungle Ben but ya gotta make the best of it when the sun shines
