Timing Belt on 2 Litre

We have a member with a Bongo stuck in a garage in Galicia, Spain. The alternator belt snapped and then became stuck under the timing belt. No further damage seems to have been caused, but the timing belt now needs re-aligning. The mechanic has been supplied with the relevant information from the workshop manual, but paragraph 2, on page 22, is causing some problems. It it entitled "Cam Shaft Pulley Timing Mark" and states "attach the timing belt in order of the numbers shown in the diagram........".
What numbers? Which diagram?

The cam shaft pulley ( if relevant ) will have markings 1/2/3/4 ,you set TDC to the relevant engine size ( CC number of valves), on that particular engine it could be 2/3.
The mechanic should be able to check that the cam shaft is timed correctly by doing a manual test on the valve positions for that particular pulley setting.
Take Care
