Bongo Fury

Howdy folks ..... I just attempted to take breakdown cover with my usual providers , Start Rescue ..... they have been excellent on previous vehicles but unfortunately aren't willing to cover my lovely new Bongo .... is this an issue I am likely to encounter over and over and, to save me time and frustration, are there any specialist providers of breakdown cover out there I should try ?

I use Green Flag via the Caravan Club - no problems.
Only issue I have come across is with overseas breakdown cover - van is too old, no full service record etc.

I use GEM but haven't had to call them out yet.

I use RAC personal cover which covers all my vehicles. Checked upon renewal regarding 2001 Bongo and they said "yes that is fine and covered"

I was with RAC for donkeys years, but they're not happy with an older vehicle.

Strange as when I specifically asked re the Bongo they said it would be fine.

Its when they get to 20 years they object a 2001 vehicle will be fine a pre 1998 won't be.

Lifesure (the insurance crowd you see adverts for on this site) also do Bongo breakdown cover.

My cover for the 97 Bongo includes home start and UK breakdown for £95 - the provider is Call Assist. I've never used it so far, so can't comment on the quality.

Do the RAC reject cars over 20 years for 'vehicle' cover, or 'personal' cover as well?

I'm with them purely because they have the best caravan cover ( unless someone knows different ).

AA here 2 x 20 year + vehicles, no troubles. Stuff RAC and anyone else then is what I say.

Greenflag personal cover, asked specifically about the beastly bus and she's covered. There's probably an age limit though.

ive just had a e mail from 2gether breakdown ins saying that because of the age (1996) my bongo cover cant be renewed any ideas of a good company to renew with

Uk or Europe.....2gether were demanding huge insurance premiums from me, changed insurer.

AA cover all my vehicles on one family policy no age limit
