Bongo Fury

Hi all

I've got a 2001 (new look) Bongo with Mistral full side conversion. The rear seats were cut down to 2 passengers each. Looks like that was done with a big saw and some welding - clever stuff.

The middle seat glides back and forth beautifully, but the back seat is hard work. It doesn't grind or get stuck, it's just very resistant - even over the same bit of track as the middle seat.

Has anyone got any ideas about what might be causing this? I'm afraid that when welding back together the runners are slightly mis-aligned or something. Or could there be another cause? (one that's more fixable?)

Could you contact the converter?

Try a shot of spray grease or WD40/GT85 derivate on the runners

Thanks Bob & Flanners, I'll give WD40 a go initially, and then try contacting the people who made the conversion. I'll report back

I've got a similar setup in mine. It might be worth unbolting the seats and seeing if the runners themselves are stiff to slide or if it's only when the seats are bolted up.

I reckon if the seats aren't quite as accurately made as they could be then it could be the seats themselves forcing the runners to not quite run smoothly. If they still move it can't be out by much so maybe a slight fettling with a file on the bolt holes could be enough.

After some investigation I think that the sliders are actually not quite parallel. They will move, so it's not the end of the world.
