hi All,

Just bought a bongo 2002, petrol 2.0;

It has an aftermarket lifting roof( manual). But the roof floor panel is missing. Question is can I use the OEM floor panel from a older bongo or what material can be used as a floor panel? will something like 15mm dual side ply work?

Many thanks in advance

If you can find out who fitted the lift up roof I'd ask them.

A lot of after market roofs are not fitted with the floor panel, they are just for standing room, but as for fitting an original...

It will not be a straight 'Drop in' for certain, possibly you could modify one, and one could be fabricated, you'd just need to do the stress load sums or over engineer.

And welcome aboard. 8)

Thank you Bob.

I am planning to use structural ply but not sure about what thickness to use. At home we have a single bed which has like 12mm ply and it is coping really well.

So wondering if 12mm ply will do the trick or should I over engineer as you said and go for 18mm ?

How do I do stress load sums ? I have no clue where to start.

We have an aftermarket lifting roof that was fitted by Andy Imports (Norwich). It has 4 separate panels - 2 large & 2 small, which gives a good choice of options for fitting & also storing them. They are 18mm thick, don’t think I’d be happy with thinner!! They are also covered in a thin carpet type material. Hope that helps :D
