Diagnostic Tool Help

Hello there...
I'm trying to determine whether a diagnostic tool will work on my 2002 2.5 diesel.
The connection looks like this, which I believe is an OBD1 17 PIN type:

Will this tool [1] work with a suitable adapter [2]?

As your a 2002 version vehicle you may have a OBDII connector already existing, if so its located under the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel.

Thanks for your suggestion but no OBDII unfortunately.

I tried a couple of adaptors like you showed but neither worked, I think there may have been a version where the OBDII signal protocol was used on the old style plugs, but the ECU's on mine didn't provided the signal and so the straight adaptor plugs wouldn't work.

Resurrecting my post, I found this Snap-on KB [1] and purchased items [2] and [3] for use with their Solus Pro Scanner (which a mechanic friend has).
Trying to read the codes, I get 'no connection' consistently. The vehicle ignition is on and the lighter socket has power for the Snap-on power cable [3].
Has anyone seen or tried this?

Not sure any of the scan tools with adapters will work but the diagnostic fault codes can be read fairly easy using a short wire (when you get your head around the flash sequence)
I’ve just had a recent issue with one of my Bongo’s so it’s all still fresh in my head if you need any advice.

I tried it with my Bosch KTS & a Mazda to 16 pin OBD adaptor. It wouldn’t communicate at all either.
