Introduction, a Dutch Bongo

Hi!

My name is Joël and about 2 weeks ago i bought myself a bongo.
It could be the only bongo in the Netherlands, but i'm not sure..

The story so far,

Bought my bongo 2.5 v6 aft for a bargain, because nothing is clear about milage, maintenance etcetera.
Well, you tell me was 1950 euro's a bargain? (1800 pounds)

Milage on the dash states 188.000 km, but this seems to be incorrect. (In holland we have a registration for km's and it states invalid).

When i bought it, it was rough but seemed technically OK.

I wanted to go in vacation with my my bongo, so i decided to test it out and drove about 1000 km's in the first week.
In that week it started running worse, sometimes on 5 cilinders.
The exhaust back box broke of due to rust.
The A/C pump bearing started making a lot on noise.

So, i had it serviced and because my garage didn't have a back box, i decided to straight pipe for my vacation..

At the moment i'm driving trought Germany, having done a trip to Prague, Budapest and Croatia!

It sometimes still runs on 5 cilinders, so i will be ordering a full rotor, cap and leads set!

Pictures are coming soon!

Greetz,
Joël

Welcome aboard. :D

I'm no technical wizard, but hopefully someone will have some advice.

Welcome Joel. That sounds a bargain price. Apart from the electric HT cables and distributor cap, things to watch out for are crank and camshaft seals (on the v6) and rust (on all Bongos). So a thorough check for oil leaks and for rust would be a good idea. Best time to do the seals is when a cambelt change is due (since the labour time/cost for that is high for that you might as well change the seals then). Enjoy your trip. :D
