(A warning) Waxoyl in sills still smells after 4 months

I put 3 large spray cans of Waxoyl in each side through the grommet holes from under the Bongo and whilst driving is not a problem I still smell a fairly strong smell of white spirit when I open the doors after them having been closed for 24 hours. I have been blowing it through for 4 months every other day.

I did not leave any of the grommets out which might have been a mistake evaporation wise and obviously low temperatures do not aid evaporation. So if ever you do spray the sills do bear in mind sleeping in it would probably be impossible to sleep in for a good while. I am hoping once the sun comes out to get the sides heated up to disperse/evaporate the last white spirit from the Waxoyl.

I did not know it would smell so long. You definitely don't want to be put Waxoyl in during spring/summer months otherwise
it may render the van unusable for sleeping in.

If it has not gone soon I may remove the grommets in the hope that it comes out of those holes and not into the cabin.

Hopefully once weather warms up it will speed evaporation of remaining solvent. [-o<

The same happened to ours, but I can say the smell went away eventually. As said above, the warm weather will help. If you have wind deflectors on the front windows (which stop rain getting in) , it might be worth leaving the windows open half an inch to allow air circulation.

Nowadays I prefer the Dynax S50 cavity wax. It's much less odourous.

And of course time is on our side as we cant use our Bongos for much of their intended purpose anyway
