Bongo Fury

Hi all,
I'm new to the bongo world but have been an admirer for years.
I took a gamble on a cheap, mechanically sound 96 van a couple of months ago.
I was aware that the sills had some rust and the van came with new sills for replacing. On inspection I noted that the arches would probably need some work too but it would still be good value with the cost of this repair.

When I brought it to the mechanic he put it up on the ramp and there is a lot of rust underneath, quite bad on the back and the radiator supports.

I'm just looking for some advice on whether it is beyond repair or worth the money.
I'd be willing to put a couple of grand into a good repair job but only if it wouldn't require constant rework.

Any advice would be great.

Sounds pretty standard! Rear arches, Cills, Front and rear cross members all have replacement parts available.

You could upload the images to Google photos.
From there you can select what photos you wish to allow others to see by collating the chosen images in a folder and then select the folder link and post the link on this site then members simply click on the link to view your selected images.
Sills,arches,crossmembers are common and easily doable to a bodyshop however the thing that strikes a worrying note in your post is the rust at the back. To give yourself a fighting chance it would be better to pay him to remove the rear bumper as the side vented areas are prone to rusting and require a bit of skill to form repair panels. To the best of my knowledge these panels are not available or if they are they form part of a larger assembly. You could then choose where you want to spend your money as the cosmetics, painting,filling,Waxoyling will make up a large part of the bill but if you chose to do this bit yourself or at a later date 2k would likely get you a rust free Bongo that will last you a good few years.
