Bongo Fury

Hi all

I'm looking at getting some pirelli scorpion all terrain tyres for my bongo, they should help with some traction compared to the low profile street tyres I have on and help fuel economy not.I have 17" alloys on it atm and I've worked out that the 225/65R17 should fit in my archways. Has anyone had any of these fitted to their bongo or recommend any all terrain tyres. Sorry if this has been posted about before.

Do make sure the load rating is high enough.

92 Front, 96 rear, minimum.

Cheers for that, i should of looked at that really shouldn't i.

These are the ones im looking at, they say 102 on the load rating so I guess they should be all good.

102 Is more than 96, so that's not an issue.

I was thinking that too, about the speedo but I was going to check it with the GPS to see what they come out like. I'll let you know, I think i need to dive in and buy one and fit it to make sure I have clearance around the arches etc.

Difficult, that.

If it doesn't work you don't want to be stuck with one tyre.

Also, consider what you will do for a spare - if yours is 4wd it's vital that the rolling circumference is the same on all four corners. Even with 2wd you want pretty close.

You don't want to stuff the transmission if you get a flat.

Please update us, OP. I need to replace my all-season ironman tires next month and I'm planning to get some AT tyres. I like the aggressive look of general grabber at2 though I'm still undecided.

I had some general grabber at2’s, remember them being a tad noisy but that’s to be expected as they’re not normal road tyres. Mine was 4wd with lsd didn’t really need the grabbers which were replaced with normal premium road tyres, went everywhere I tried to take it - 25% gradient 6 inches of snow no problem! Steep wet grass no real problem except when it went off camber and I was like erm should I be doing this in a bongo!

I was planning on buying a cheap steel wheel and one tyre then I can fit it on to see if it fit's ok, If it does then I'll buy 4 more so I will have a spare the same size. Probably won't fit in the spare wheel hanger but i was going to make a spare wheel carrier on the back tow bar. that may be a concern going to big on tyre diameter that the van will bog down on hills?

cwilliams255, What premium road tyres did you go for mine is 4WD aswell if there are some decent road tyres then I may go down that route.
