Gearbox oil cooler line leak

Hi, before I order new hard lines, has anyone successfully cut them back and kept a good seal with a slightly longer rubber hose with a couple of jubilee clips. I don’t have a flanging tool. I have a pin hole in the hard line about 1cm above the join on the one that angles down.

I was thinking it would be worth a go before I replace the whole thing?

Many thanks

Rich.

Cant see why not. If you were a bit nervous then double clip the hose.
Mine are run in hose to the cooler and return .

Seems to have done the trick. More worrying now is the state of the water line next to it! :(

New exhaust today too. Getting the old one off has finished me off for the day.

Why not replace the metal pipes with hose? I have swopped out most of the suspect metal pipes for heater hoses without any problems.
Nylon step down, tee pieces, angles etc readily available from kit car component suppliers.

Hi does anyone know what size the rubber hose is that goes from the gearbox to the metal pipes?
Mine split a while ago , I just bypassed the oil cooler altogether , not a good idea !
I’m going to replace the metal pipes with hose , if I can get the right diameter
Thanks
