New bongo owner

Hi all- my name is Daniel- I reside in sw Montana in the states. I recently acquired a 1991 Mazda bongo brawny double cab fire truck from the asakita precinct Hiroshima japan fire department. It is one of two bongos that exist in the states. I realize it’s different than your camper vans, but I figured this would be a good place to gather information and parts resources .

For example- the front ball joints are compatible with what other vehicles? Are there kits to raise the front suspension slightly?

Thanks in advance

Hi Buddy. 8)

Warm welcome to BF. :D

Sadly I can't answer your suspension questions, but I'm retied fire brigade here, and that sounds like one great motor. :D :D :D

It’s quite enjoyable. I love odd vehicles- and in the states, this is as odd as it gets

I am, as they say, on the case. (It's a more interesting task than sitting in my locked-down office trying to remember what pubs looked like)

I assume you mean the lower suspension arm ball joint? If so, is this it shown as number 6 at bottom of diagram?

I’m more interested in the upper ball joints. What I’m trying to accomplish is lifting the truck 2-3 inches. We get severe weather here, the roads are primitive, and I need a little more ground clearance. I’m hoping to locate upper ball joint spacers , and since no one makes a bongo specific part, I need to know if Mazda pickup, Mitsubishi, etc parts are similar .

Thank you for your efforts, it is much appreciated

Round our way pubs look like effing nobby flats, and I can't see it improving.

Dan, much though I enjoy browsing online parts catalogs in a variety of exotic languages I feel the time has come for you to undertake your own research. Using a combination of the following websites and the Google translation tool you can find part numbers, compatible parts, prices, availability and even order stuff to be sent to Montana. Usually you are requested to input your chassis number or the genuine Mazda part number in the blank box at the top of the page.

http://mazda.epcdata.ru/
https://www.amayama.com/en
https://partsouq.com/

There's others too which I will add later.

Much appreciated. I’ll take a gander

All websites in the states don’t acknowledge the bongo exists, so these may help a ton!
