Depends what you buy, but about £17.00 for 4 ltrs of Castrol Magnatec.

Thanks for the heads up Bob. Just had a look and for 5w/30 there's an A5, a C2 and a C3 type of oil. Jeebers i don't know which to get ha ha. If you or anyone knows, I'd love to hear

From the Fact Sheet (Lubricants) 'C' is the oil for 'compression', ie, diesel engines. As for 2 or 3...???

The main thing to think about after the main headline grade , 5w 30 or 40 etc diesel or petrol is whether it's a suitable oil for, in this case diesels with egr or particulate filters etc.
Diesels fitted with a WORKING egr need a suitable engine oil, these oils suspend and flush the soot that the egr puts into the combustion chamber to reburn, failure to use the correct oil would load the oil with carbon and turn in into a grinding paste, it also dissipates heat into the coolant system.
Look carefully or ask if it's suitable for egr use.
Oil is a very high tech part of your engine, even in tractor technology bongos.
From memory I think it's acea c2 or c3 that's for diesel egr, but it's been a while, look up the list of acea oil specs it tells you what year of engine, cast iron or alloy engines, egr, particulate filters etc.

Thanks Bob. Bonkers as all 3 when you zoom in on the container say they're suitable for diesel engines. Thanks Ady also for input. Engine oils are becoming like smartphones and computers - such a confusing range of spec variations its offputting this buyer!

Too clever for its own good if you ask me Bob. I'm sure its all done by marketing intention and to seduce, but in the end (as in my case when thinking of getting a new smartphone) all it does is p*ss me off and befuddle me so much I decide I'll just stick with my old one (or not do an oil change ha ha). You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but not all of the people all the time and, eventually, very few people much of the time. Have been using the 10/40 fully synthetic seems ok and quite cheap
