Under seat sliding drawer

Hi,

I have a three seater rear seat and want to install a sliding drawer underneath.

I have seen quite a few pictures, but was wondering if standard metal drawer rails can be used (due to size) and if the box itself is custom made or anyone has found an off the shelf that fits.

If anyone has recommendations for new or used places to buy one that would be appreciated.

Thanks

I got mine made up by https://plyworxuk.co.uk/ after seeing them on instagram, I think it was £120 shipped to the ROI.

I've had a look through my photos and can't find one but I'll take some in the next day or two, it's a proper job!

Screwfix do a plethora of drawer runners. Howdens also sell a "plinth drawer" kit that provides brackets for top fixing.

Hi
I fitted utility wheels via 10mm bolts to my draw rather than have it on a rail. Works perfectly.

I was thinking of doing this, does the drawer zoom around while driving/cornering or are they locking wheels?

Thanks.

No not at all, it's a snug fit, plus I fitted the wheels so they had a very slight drag on them to prevent them moving in transit.. You could just fit two at the back as in practice you lift the front part to drag it out.

Two at the back it is then, thanks for the tip.

The rail approach was super quick to do and the aim was to allow the drawer unit to move with the bench seat so it stayed out of the way when letting people into the back seats. I find that a big advantage.

I picked up this for a tenner...

Works well, and we can take it out when we don't need it. Depends if you need it permanently and whether you like the aesthetics :)
