Having to repair my sills following an Mot fail. All very annoying as only two years since I paid a supposedly reputable specialist a lot of money to replace them, and all he seems to have done is fill and paint. I won't give any clues as to who it is as we seem to be heading to the courts.
Anyway, can someone advise as to what is acceptable practice for MoT, please. I'm using the outer sills repair sections from Bongo Spares. I've cut away the rusted section of the outer, pieced in some patches in the inner, and cleaned the flanges. My intention was that I would plug weld the bottom flanges to replicate the original spot welds, and then carefully butt weld the top. I've now got realistic about my ability to butt weld neatly enough, so I've lapped the top and plug welded that as well, with the intention of losing it with body filler and stonechip.
Although they won't be visible, is this method allowed for MoT? Should I really run a seam weld along the top edge of the repair panel? The photo shows the current state of play, much grinding and further weld needed, but strong enough (if not pretty...)

Thanks. Can't complete this for a few weeks until recovered from surgery, but good to know I'm on the right lines
